The Dexter Wrestling Club's objective is to create a positive experience for children, while promoting sportsmanship, leadership, character development and a passion for the sport of wrestling!

The 2010 freestyle wrestling season has started and the Dexter Wrestling Club would like to invite you to join us.
Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 to 7:30 at Creekside School.

The DWC Coaches and Board of Directors would like to congratulate the following Dexter wrestlers who have qualified for the MYWA State Championships at Kellogg Arena on March 26, 27 and 28th by placing in the top four positions at Regionals last weekend! Nice job!

A note from Coach Bob:
Hello Everyone, The DWC coaching staff has seen a major improvement from week to week in the wrestling ability of your kids. They continue to improve and their place finishes reflect that! They are doing a great job and have learned a lot this year. We are very proud of all of them and it has been great to get to know them. I wanted to remind all of you that practices will continue on the regular schedule through March 25th, but the location has changed to "The Dungeon" of Creekside. This room is in the very back of the school down by the playground equipment. Practices at the high school are now over due to the DHS baseball team taking over the room. This is a big week for our kids who have hopes of qualifying for States by a top four finish this Sunday at Regionals in Tecumseh. Our MYWA season will come to a close after the State Finals on the weekend of March 26th. This means that our last practice will be Thursday, March 25th. (I have attached both flyers for your convenience) We will be running a freestyle season immediately at the conclusion of the MYWA season. Practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays. The league we wrestle in for Freestyle is called USA Wrestling (MUSAW), and is a much shorter season than MYWA and is quite fun. Visit this link for information: http://www.musaw.com/ The DWC Board will meet tomorrow night to finish up the details on the upcoming Freestyle season. MUSAW is looking at May 15, 2010 as their date for the 2010 MUSAW State Finals. The DWC Awards Banquet will encompass both the MYWA season and the USA Freestyle season. All wrestlers in both disciplines will be recognized at this banquet, so the banquet will be held after the conclusion of the USA State Finals. The banquet is a great time and is an important event for your wrestlers! This is the celebration and recognition for all of their hard work so we are counting on all of you to be there to make it a success! Schedule Change - Practice is Wednesday 1/27/2010 - Due to another home meet on Thursday, January 28th, we will be having practice today, Wednesday, January 27th from 6:00 to 7:30
Picture Day 1/26/2010 - Just a reminder that Tuesday, Jan. 26 is picture day for your wrestlers and we will have a photographer at practice to take pictures, team and individual. Please have them wear their DWC T-shirt to practice for the team photo!
Pre-Tournament Parent Meeting 1/26/2010 - Our home tournament is coming up quickly (Sunday, February 14th). We will be having a pre-tournament parent meeting Jan 26. at 6:00 pm when you drop your child off. Please be sure to have at least one family member present at this meeting. We will go over some details for the tournament as far as jobs that will need to be done.
"Future Dread Night" - Thursday, January 21st,
a fun event where our young wrestlers get to share the spotlight with the high school team by getting called up to the mat to be recognized!
1) Be there by 5:30 2) Be sure to wear your 2010 club issued T-Shirt 3) Parents, bring your cameras... its a Kodak moment
Gear - We have club singlets and T-shirts to pass out during Tuesday's practice. We also have head gear for those who ordered it (Please bring your payment of $20/set).

MUSAW State Finals!
Congratulations going out to all of our Dexter Wrestling Club Freestyle Regional qualifiers and State Placers!! There was some huge competition at Kellogg Arena…and Dexter left with some nice Hardware in both Freestyle and Greco!!
